4. BIBLIOGRAPHIC SERVICES

WCIN provides three forms of bibliographic services:
  • Annotations

  • Works in Print

  • World-Wide Web Links

4.1.1 Annotations
Annotations of research studies and articles will be organized according to the World Cultural Intelligence Framework (WCIF).  At launch, the site provides no annotations of WWW web sites or works in print.  Over time a collection of annotations, currently in legacy format, will be posted and new ones added.
4.1.2 Works in Print
At launch, the site provides no bibliography of works in print.  Over time a 7,000+ research bibliography, currently in legacy format, will be converted and included on the site.  All works in print listed will be classified using WCIF categories.
4.1.3. World-Wide Web Links
WWW links are organized according to the WCIF categories.  At launch, site links include only:

7.2.0 LAW

7.2.4.Intellectual Property
7.2.6 Treaties
Overtime additional links will be added for all WCIF categories.

4. CULTURAL CONTEXT LAB

Economic activity takes place within a cultural context.  Examples of cultural context affecting business affairs include: (i) in a Buddhist culture a business person from the West should never cross one's legs revealing the soles of the feet - the sole of the foot is a symbol of the Buddha; and, (ii) in an Islamic culture a business person from the West should not offer alcoholic beverages to guests - alcohol is illegal in many and immoral in all Islamic countries.  At launch, the site provides no additional cultural contextualization intelligence.  Over time additional intelligence will be added.

4. DATA LAB

At launch, the site provides no data series.  WCIN will, over time, collect, compile and display comparative trend statistics using WCIF categories. Data will be developed and time streamed from existing data sources. Time series will be published on a moving 10-year timeline. Each data series will be described using official manuals. Data description will include:

  • Contacts

  • Frequency

  • History

  • Quality Assessment

  • Response Rates

  • Sample Size

  • User Profiles

4. LAW LAB

Cultural identity and cultural sovereignty are becoming more important policy objectives as the economic and political sovereignty of nations is being eroded on the road to globalization.  Erosion of economic and political sovereignty is the result of membership in regional and global economic and military alliances, for example, the North American Free Trade Agreement, European Union, the World Trade Organization and NATO.

The WCIN Law Lab will compile, index and title applicable national and international laws, legislation, regulations, practices and procedures.  They are reported using WCIF categories:

2.1 Content & Regulation
2.2 Folklore & Native Culture
2.3 Investment & Foreign Ownership
2.4 Intellectual Property
2.5 Status of the Artist
2.6 Treaties
2.7 Types
2.8 Other

At launch, the site provides links to intellectual property law (7.2.4) and copyright and related treaties (7.2.6.2).  Compiler Press publications provide a complete collection of all copyright and related treaties and Canadian copyright law (3.0).

4. POLICY LAB

Complimenting data series and legal compilations, WCIN generates policy profiles to contextualize data series. Policy profile information includes:

  • Policy and program histories

  • Public record of debate including Parliamentary Hansard, Congressional Record and Minutes of Boards, corporate annual reports, etc.

The record of decision will be mapped against empirical evidence such as statistical data series to form a policy profile documenting  whether or not goals and objectives of stated policy were in fact attained.  At launch, the site provides no policy profiles.

4. RESEARCH & CONSULTANCY

WCIN offers research and consultancy (R&C) services to individual and institutional clients.    R&C services are available on a fee-for-service basis.

4. WEB SEARCH & ANALYSIS

As a specialized R&C service, WCIN conducts web searches and analysis of sites for individual and institutional clients on a fee-for-service basis.
